Privacy policy

The Data Protection Provisions set out below apply to web services provided by INFORUM Verlags- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH and by its parent company Deutsches Atomforum e.V. (DAtF) (jointly referred to hereinafter as “INFORUM”). INFORUM is keen to protect your personal data. INFORUM processes personal data collected during visits to the websites,, et alia (hereinafter “websites”) in accordance with the legislation on data privacy and data security applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany. This Privacy Policy explains how INFORUM handles the data collected when you visit our websites.

Collection and use of personal data
Personal data means any information about your identity, such as your name, your postal address, your email address or your bank account. These data are only processed, saved and used if you have made them available to INFORUM voluntarily, e.g. by using the online shop, ordering information material, subscribing to a communication service, using the contact form, or taking part in a survey or a competition. If you provide INFORUM with personal data by means other than visiting this website – such as by attending the Annual Meeting on Nuclear Technology (AMNT) or seminars, workshops etc. – then the specific data protection provisions associated with the relevant General Terms and Conditions have prime effect.

Using and sharing your personal data
INFORUM uses your personal data to answer your enquiries, to process your order or to grant you access to specific information or web services. To this end INFORUM may need to pass your data to a distribution service provider, to other companies or to external service providers for the purposes of processing your order data. These companies are likewise under an obligation to protect your personal data in every way. INFORUM expressly undertakes not to sell your personal data to third parties or to market them in any other manner. Pursuant to Section 7 (3, ii) of the German Act on Unfair Competition (UWG) INFORUM may – without requesting your consent – use the email address you supplied to INFORUM when placing an order for the purpose of sending you direct advertising for similar products of its own. However, you are free at all times to withdraw your consent to receiving such emails and to the use of your email address for such purposes. Right of option
You decide at your own discretion what personal information you wish to make available to INFORUM. If you do not wish to supply any information, you may find that some contents of the online services offered on our websites are not accessible. If you subscribe to a free communication service (e. g. newsletters, press releases or similar), you can unsubscribe by email at any time; in this event your data will be deleted immediately. If there has been a change in your personal data (e.g. postcode, email or postal address), you can likewise inform INFORUM by email so that INFORUM can update the information.

Automatic data collection
hen you visit our websites, some general data will be collected automatically (i. e. without a personal registration), but these data are not for use in relation to your person. As a standard procedure the web servers save inter alia

  • the name of your Internet Service Provider (or in the case of corporate networks the name of the company)

  • the date and time of retrieval

The evaluation of this information is anonymised. It is used exclusively to enhance the appeal, content and functionality of the websites. No personal use profiles are generated. These data are not put to any additional use or passed on to others.

INFORUM uses cookies on its websites. Cookies are text files sent to your web browser from the web server and saved there ready for the next time it opens. Firstly, INFORUM uses session cookies to remember your shopping basket and your login. These session cookies are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Secondly, INFORUM uses cookies provided by third parties which help INFORUM to make our websites more user-friendly, effective and secure. As part of this process INFORUM uses Google Analytics.

Google Analytics
The cookies saved on your computer by Google Analytics permit an analysis of how you use INFORUM websites. INFORUM uses Google Analytics with the extension ‘_anonymizeIp()’, which means that, on behalf of INFORUM, the IP addresses received by Google are first of all abbreviated by Google on servers within the EU or the European Economic Area (EEA) in such a way that the IP address cannot be ascribed to a specific computer. Information about how you use the website and online services is then passed on to a Google server in the United States of America and saved there. Google uses this information inter alia to evaluate your use of the website. These data may under certain circumstances be passed on to third parties if the law so requires and if third parties are used to process these data on Google’s behalf. However, Google will not link your IP address to other data. You can prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting the settings in your browser software; INFORUM would point out, however, that if you do so there is a possibility that you will not be able to make full use of all website functions. Twitter button
Some INFORUM websites use the Twitter button plug-in from Twitter, Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (hereinafter “Twitter”). When you open pages where Twitter has been integrated, the browser will set up a direct link to its servers. Twitter will send the button straight to your browser, which embeds it in the website. If the button is embedded, Twitter receives the information that the page concerned has been opened. If the user is logged in with Twitter when visiting the website, Twitter can identify the visitor’s user account. By clicking the button, relevant information is sent directly from the browser to Twitter and saved. INFORUM takes all necessary measures to protect your personal data from loss, damage, falsification, manipulation and unauthorised access. We naturally respect the statutory data protection requirements applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Parental control
INFORUM encourages parents and carers to teach children how to use personal data safely and responsibly on the Internet. As a matter of principle, children should never give personal data to a website without the consent of a parent or carer. You may rest assured that INFORUM does not knowingly collect personal data from children or use such data in any way or disclose them to third parties without authorisation.

Links to other websites
This Privacy Policy only applies to INFORUM websites. If our websites refer or link to third-party websites, we cannot guarantee or accept liability for the accuracy or completeness of the content of these websites or for the manner in which they protect data. As we have no influence over third-party compliance with data protection provisions, INFORUM expressly recommends you to read the privacy policy of every website carefully.
